Adonis — A Journey to Support Family

Adonis had worked hard his entire life in construction. When he decided to switch careers to better support his family, he moved to Boston looking for opportunities. However, the high cost of housing and difficulty finding work resulted in Adonis becoming homeless.

“I was struggling to find a place to stay and needed help,” Adonis recalls. “One of my friends told me about Pine Street Inn, and I thought it would be a good place to start.”

Adonis found refuge in the Men’s Inn shelter, where his case manager recommended he enroll in the housekeeping job training program. “I have a passion for keeping things clean, so the housekeeping program was a great fit,” Adonis says. “I’ve gained so much experience here!”

Throughout his time in the program, Adonis has embraced the supportive community at Pine Street. “The staff have been incredible,” shares Adonis. “They’ve helped me start the housing application process. I’m now able to support my family again.”

Adonis recently secured a job as a paint sales associate. Reflecting on his journey, he shares words of encouragement to those in similar situations. “I recommend Pine Street and the housekeeping program. Keep moving forward, don’t give up and work hard.”
