Our friends and supporters who donate their time and talents play an essential role in our efforts to end homelessness. We are grateful to be joined by more than 5,000 volunteers every year, ranging from corporate, civic and faith-based organizations to individuals and groups of friends and families. Volunteer opportunities are available at our shelter and housing locations throughout Greater Boston.
To Our Dedicated Volunteers
Pine Street Inn is grateful for the support of our volunteers, 365 days a year. We are also concerned for everyone’s health and safety. Given the situation surrounding COVID-19, we have made the decision to suspend all onsite volunteer activities and food donations until further notice. We have several remote volunteer opportunities available below. Our thanks for your interest and service. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with questions.
You don’t have to volunteer on site to make a difference!
Challenge your office or group to collect critical items like toiletries or gift cards that are needed to support our guests and tenants. Host drives to create Welcome Home Baskets or toiletry kits.
Available for Drop-Off Monday-Saturday, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Everyone loves take-out! Consider ordering lunch for our Women’s Inn shelter guests. Anything from pizza and salads to sandwiches and pasta would be so appreciated. Groups are also welcome to create and send a video message. If this is the opportunity you are looking for, please plan on lunch for 40-50 guests. Email email@example.com to coordinate an opportunity.
Send handwritten notes, cards and well wishes to tenants at one of our 35 permanent supportive housing locations across Boston and Brookline. This activity is perfect for families and groups of any size. House sizes range from 10 to 55 tenants. Consider “adopting” one of our housing sites by sending cards from your group 4x/year. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to coordinate an opportunity.
Available for Drop-Off Monday-Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
We are in need of snacks for our Shelter and Outreach programs. This food-drive opportunity is great for individual volunteers, youth groups, or small groups of friends. Depending on the program, 40-150 individually packaged snacks are needed daily, ranging from pretzels and fruit to hot chocolate and tea bags. Email email@example.com to coordinate an opportunity.
Consider Delivering a Weekend Treat
Who doesn’t love dessert? Bake or buy a special treat for one of our shelters or housing sites. Whether with cupcakes, cookies, or pies, dessert nights are a wonderful way to brighten someone’s day! This is a great opportunity for families, book clubs, or neighborhood friends. Please plan on a minimum of 75 servings. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to coordinate an opportunity.
Get together with your networks to give back. Opportunities available for groups of 2-70 people.

Everybody can be great, because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve. You don’t have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace, and a soul generated by love.- Martin Luther King Jr.
