HandyWorks is a social enterprise program of Pine Street Inn, offering high quality repair and maintenance services at competitive prices.
Not only will you get great work at a low cost — at the same time, you’ll be helping people get back on their feet as they acquire job skills and experience to reenter the workforce and rebuild their lives. We keep labor costs low while maintaining high standards of quality and customer service. All service teams are trained and supervised by highly skilled professionals in the repair and maintenance fields. Fees earned through our projects help pay salaries and provide training.
About Boston HandyWorks
Boston HandyWorks is a Pine Street Inn social enterprise, comprised of staff and students in our Building Maintenance Training Program (BMTP).The BMTP provides training to men in several Pine Street programs who are transitioning from homelessness back into the community. Participants complete an intensive, 11-week program that includes training in tool, jobsite and chemical safety; basic math and measurement; carpentry; general repair; interior and exterior painting; plumbing and electrical repair; and customer service.
All service teams are supervised on the job by Pine Street Inn staff.

- Exterior maintenance
- Raking, shoveling, cleaning
- Weatherizing and improving energy efficiency
- Insulating, weather-stripping, caulking
- Apartment turnover
- Cleaning
- Completing small jobs
