Individual Opportunities

Individuals Can Become A Volunteer In Just 3 Easy Steps:

STEP 1: LEARN MORE

Learn about the various volunteer opportunities. See below.

STEP 2: DO THE PAPERWORK

Download and print a Volunteer Application and CORI Form.* Then, mail or fax them to:

Pine Street Inn
Volunteer Programs
444 Harrison Avenue
Boston, MA 02118
Fax: 617.521.7178

*REMEMBER TO INCLUDE A PHOTOCOPY OF A STATE ISSUED PHOTO ID WITH YOUR CORI FORM.
Criminal background checks are conducted of all staff and volunteers at non-profit and human service organizations to ensure your safety and the safety of those we serve. A Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check must be completed before you begin to volunteer.

STEP 3: ATTEND AN ORIENTATION

During the orientation, prospective volunteers will learn more about Pine Street, take a tour and review volunteer policies and opportunities.

UPCOMING ORIENTATION DATES

Once your Application and CORI have been processed, we will reach out to you about upcoming orientation dates.

Individual Service Opportunities

BREAKFAST SERVICE

Help Pine Street serve breakfast any day of the week. Breakfast servers are needed from 6 to 7 a.m. at our emergency shelter in Boston's South End.

FILL-IN MEAL SERVICE

Do you live or work near Pine Street? Are you available in the evenings? If so, you may want to consider becoming a fill-in meal server. Occasionally, Pine Street needs last-minute help for dinner service or other projects. When this situation arises, we turn to our fill-in volunteers for extra support. Because not every fill-in volunteer is able to offer help at all times, we rely on many fill-in servers to ensure that we always have enough volunteers to help.

CLINIC RECEPTIONIST

The health clinics at Pine Street are in need of friendly, outgoing volunteers to greet guests at our Men's Clinic. Shifts are available in the morning and evening Monday-Friday.

SANDWICH MAKING

We need help making sandwiches to be distributed at night on our Outreach Vans. Morning shifts are available Monday-Friday.

running Club

Are you a runner or interested in sharing your running expertise?  Pine Street Inn’s Bulldog Running Club is looking for volunteers to run with clients in our Stabilization Program, located in Jamaica Plain, on Saturdays from 10 a.m. - noon.

SHARE YOUR EXPERTISE

Are you a personal trainer? Or a yoga instructor? Do you have a special skill or training that may benefit the needs of our guests? Let us know!
