Homelessness is one of the most complex social problems in the United States. It is often a compounded set of factors that affect homeless individuals, including lack of affordable housing, poverty, job or income loss, mental illness, substance abuse and/or health problems.
Efforts to solve this problem are increasingly focused on permanent supportive housing. With more than 40 years of experience in housing development, Pine Street is at the forefront of these efforts, supporting our tenants in achieving the highest level of self-sufficiency possible. Currently, Pine Street owns and/or manages buildings throughout Greater Boston, providing permanent housing for nearly 850 formerly homeless individuals – now housing tenants.
Rapid Re-Housing is one of the fastest-growing solutions to homelessness in Boston and across the country. It helps people successfully move from homelessness to housing through time-limited support services and financial assistance, such as help with first and last month’s rent. We also help people become stable in their new homes and communities. Rapid Re-Housing is an important new strategy in Pine Street’s work solving homelessness, helping to speed the path from shelter to housing and opening doors to a variety of housing options.
