Mominul Islam — Making a Difference Through Data
Mominul Islam is a data analyst with Pine Street’s Department of Program Evaluation. In his role here, Mominul works to tell the story of Pine Street through data, while improving processes to ensure that the organization has solid data for the most accurate reporting.
“I have been at Pine Street for just about a year,” Mominul says. “I joined Pine Street right out of college. During school, I realized that I had a passion for data science and wanted to pursue that as a career.”
In his short time here, Mominul has developed new tools to better explain and present the data. “I created a dashboard that helps you see the people we have served through the street outreach program on a monthly or quarterly basis,” Mominul says. “The dashboard allows you to do a deep dive into the data so you can tell how long people stayed at Pine Street, which people moved to another shelter and more.
When I reflect upon my time here, I’m filled with a sense of purpose that I never imagined I would have. Pine Street not only provides emergency shelter services, we also offer permanent housing, workforce development and more to help people get to a place of stability and independence.”
Mominul adds, “I’ve been struck by the connection the staff has to Pine Street’s mission. Everyone here has the desire to contribute to a cause that is larger than themselves.”
