Pine Street Inn has a long history with the Asian community. Located on Pine Street in Chinatown from 1969-1980, in a shared space with the Chinese Evangelical Church, our guests were treated with generosity and kindness by the community. Today, our headquarters borders Chinatown. These are our neighbors, and we cannot stay silent. We must stand together against hatred of all kinds, raising our awareness and our voices.
The recent violence in Georgia against women of Asian background has left us shaken and horrified. We must condemn the racism and violence against members of the Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander communities, including this and other incidents targeting AAPI people across the country.
