Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month is observed in the United States during the month of May, and recognizes the contributions and influence of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of the community in the United States.
AAPI Month was first designated by Congress as a week in 1978, but was extended to a month-long observance in 1990.
