As we prepare for the holidays, we are grateful for our community of supporters, and are excited to offer a variety of ways you can make the season brighter for our guests and tenants. Thank you for all you do!
Bundle of Warmth
Help individuals visited by our outreach teams* stay warm this winter by donating a bag of new, unisex cold weather gear. Include a warm hat, scarf, gloves, socks, hand-warmers, holiday candy, and we’ll distribute items to those who stay outside.
*The outreach team goes out 365 days - and nights - a year. They visit 2,400 people living on the street annually.
Sweets & Treats
Who doesn’t love dessert? Help round out dinner* at our shelters by delivering a minimum of 75 individually packaged servings of your favorite holiday treats. Note: must be non-perishable and nut-free (includes tree nuts, peanuts and peanut butter).
If baking isn’t your strong suit, you can also arrange a delivery of holiday candy, or supplies for a sweet treat for tenants to enjoy at home — a hot chocolate bundle with a holiday mug, cocoa mix, and marshmallows.
*Pine Street’s kitchen prepares over one million meals a year, staffed in part by food service trainees in our Workforce Development Program.
Cheer & Decor Galore
Help brighten up the winter holidays by providing a small bag filled with winter-themed decorations. Our tenants* and guests love handmade decorations, placemats and holiday cards. Items like wreathes, ornaments and snowflake window clings will help our tenants feel at home this holiday season.
*Currently, over 850 individuals live in Pine Street’s permanent supportive housing.
Gift Card Drive
Give a guest or tenant the ability to purchase something special or needed by contributing to our gift card drive. Consider donating a $25 gift card to Stop & Shop, Target, or CVS. Any number of gift cards is greatly appreciated.
If any of these opportunities is of interest, please contact volunteer@pinestreetinn.org or call 617.892.9184, and we will share additional information.
Everybody can be great, because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve. You don’t have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace, and a soul generated by love.
