August is Black Business Month
August is a time to acknowledge and celebrate the more than 3 million Black-owned businesses across the country and their important contribution to innovation, entrepreneurship, diversity and the economy.
Black-owned businesses generate more than $150 billion in sales each year and employ over 920,000 people. But while Black Americans make up more than 13% of the U.S. population, they own only 7% of the businesses.
We encourage you to support these local businesses all year. See below for several lists containing hundreds of Black-owned businesses, restaurants and farms in the Greater Boston area to visit during August and beyond.
