Supper/Brunch Club:

This is a great opportunity for a group of 2-5 volunteers. You and your group provide the ingredients and prepare a healthy dinner for the tenants at one of our permanent housing sites. Come up with a creative meal and cook on-site for approximately 12 tenants. This is a great way to get to know our tenants while sharing a delicious meal.

2010 Knit-A-Thon:

The Pine Street Inn Knit-a-Thon achieves two goals: First, it raises money to benefit Pine Street Inn’s Supportive Housing Program. Second, the participants knit 9” squares that are sewn together to create afghans for the Supportive Housing Program. Upon moving into their new home, each tenant receives a beautiful, unique, handmade blanket.

Learn and Serve:

Pine Street is excited to offer this innovative half-day program. Our Learn and Serve opportunity consists of an educational tour and hands-on volunteer work. Our goal is to provide you and your group with a deeper understanding of the issues of homelessness, poverty and Boston’s lack of affordable housing. Participants emerge from this session as educated advocates who can bring new insight about the issues of homelessness and poverty to their work places and to the communities in which they live.

A session can be designed to meet the needs of your group. We are happy to collaborate with you to ensure that your group gains a knowledge of the issues that interest you. Morning and evening opportunities are available.

Evening Sponsor and Serve:

Pine Street’s Sponsor and Serve option allows volunteers to make a fiscal contribution to Pine Street while still having the chance to interact with our guests. For just three dollars a guest and an hour and a half of your time, you and your group can provide those in need with a nutritious meal and our food service program with necessary financial support. Not only will you have the satisfaction of covering the cost of a meal, you will have the chance to see your donation put to work as you help serve a meal to our guests!

Unable to cover the cost of a meal? Pine Street still appreciates any donation of your group’s time and energy. Groups are more than welcome to serve meals whether or not they are able to sponsor them. Dinner and breakfast service opportunities are available in Boston, Quincy and Dorchester.

Fill-In Meal Service:

Do you live or work near Pine Street? Are you available in the evenings? If so, you may want to consider becoming a fill-in meal server. Occasionally, Pine Street needs last-minute help for dinner service or other projects. When this situation arises, we turn to our fill-in volunteers for extra support. Because not every fill-in volunteer is able to offer help at all times, we rely on many fill-in servers to ensure that we always have enough volunteers to help.
