The race to end homelessness can be won with your help. For the third year in a row, Pine Street Inn has been selected as a participant in the BAA Boston Marathon® Charity Program. On April 17, members of Team Pine Street will compete in the 110th Boston Marathon to raise funds and awareness for homelessness and housing issues. Last year’s team raised nearly $70,000 to help provide shelter, assistance, housing and hope to the 1,200 homeless men and women served by Pine Street Inn each day. Team Pine Street is made up of runners from all walks of life and levels of running experience. But all members of Team Pine Street will have two things in common: a strong desire to raise funds to support Pine Street Inn’s programs for the homeless, and the determination to run one of the most challenging races of their lives. When night falls in Boston, 6,200 people have no place to call home. Many of these men and women turn to Pine Street Inn for help, and each is welcomed as a guest. Founded in 1969, Pine Street Inn is New England's leading resource for homeless and formerly homeless individuals. Pine Street serves 1,200 men and women each day through street outreach, emergency shelter, job training, and affordable housing. Headquartered in Boston's South End at the site of the Men’s and Women’s Inns, Pine Street also owns more than 20 affordable housing properties throughout Boston, as well as a Harbor Island facility for men transitioning out of homelessness and addiction. |
