Volunteers contribute to Pine Street Inn's mission in a variety of ways. The following are some examples of ways in which you can help.

Meal Service Options:

Sponsor and Serve: Cover the cost of a meal at one of the inn's sites. Meal sponsorship ranges from $160 at a smaller off-site program to $700 at the Men's Inn. Dinner service opportunities are available in Boston, Quincy and Dorchester.

Replace Ingredients: Supply the ingredients for a meal at one of Pine Street's sites and the inn's kitchen staff will do the cooking for you. You will receive a shopping list. Ingredients must be dropped off at the inn's main site in advance. Meal service at various sites is available as well.

Serve only: Serve breakfast or dinner at any of the inn's sites. Breakfast servers are needed from 6 a.m. until 7 a.m. at our emergency shelter. Dinner servers are needed at our locations in Dorchester, Quincy and downtown Boston.

If you would like to contribute to our food service program in another capacity please contact the Volunteer Department at 617.892-9187 or scottie.wait@pinestreetinn.org.

Supper Club
This is a great opportunity for a group of 2-5 volunteers. Provide the ingredients and prepare a healthy dinner for the tenants at one of our permanent housing sites. You come up with a creative menu and cook the meal on-site for 12 tenants.

Sandwich Makers
Help is needed to make sandwiches to be distributed at night on our Outreach Vans. Morning shifts are available during the week.

Clinic Receptionist
Friendly, outgoing volunteers needed to greet guests at our Men's and Women's Clinic. Morning and evening hours are available.

New Service Offering for our Corporate Partners
Pine Street Inn is excited to offer an innovative opportunity designed especially for its corporate partners and their employees. A new half or full day program consisting of educational programs, interactive activities and hands-on volunteer work is designed for corporate groups to learn more about homelessness, poverty and the lack of affordable housing.

Corporations and their employees profit by gaining a perspective-altering look at a critical social issue in Greater Boston. Corporate employees will emerge from this session as educated advocates who can bring new insight about the issue to their work places and to the communities in which they live.

A session can be designed to meet the needs of your group. For example, one recent session was focused on Pine Street Inn's job training programs for a group of Human Resource managers. Another corporation included this program into its diversity curriculum. Please contact Scottie Wait at (617) 892-9187 for more information about this exciting new opportunity.
