The 2009 Knit-a-Thon

November 8, 2009

About the Knit-a-Thon

The Pine Street Inn Knit-a-Thon achieves two goals: First, it raises money to benefit Pine Street Inn’s Supportive Housing Program. This program provides permanent housing to women and men whose lives have been derailed by homelessness, giving them a new lease on life.

Second
, the participants knit 9” squares that are sewn together to create afghans for the Supportive Housing Program. Upon moving into their new home, each tenant receives a beautiful, unique, handmade blanket.  Last year, we received thousands of squares, made 40 blankets in one day and raised nearly $20,000 to support the program.

How Can You Help?

Register
Register for the Knit-a-Thon by contacting Marissa Pinksten at marissa.pinksten@pinestreetinn.org or at 617.892.9185.

Knit or crochet 9”x 9” squares
We accept any yarn, any color, any weight, and any pattern. Each afghan requires 35 squares, but you don’t need to make an entire blanket’s worth.

Please label the squares as “hand wash” or “machine wash" and please weave in your tails! Send or deliver the squares to:
Robyn Belsky
GE Healthcare
116 Huntington AveBoston, MA 02116

Raise money for Pine Street Inn
Ask your friends and family to pledge a specific amount per square (e.g. With a pledge of $1.00 per square, if you make 25 squares, you raise $25.00). Or donors can give a fixed amount. There is no fundraising minimum. Moreover, there is no limit!
Set up your fundraising page here.

Make a donation
If fundraising isn’t your thing, consider making a donation along with your squares.

Join us to sew up the afghans!
